This is a popular phrase, that is thrown around especially in the detailing community recently but to a customer this can bring up more questions than answers. We will cover is the difference between a correction and an enhancement. Another thing that makes a lot of these things confusing when they don't need to be is that people are using the same terms and phrases but giving them different meanings. So paint correction in its most simple terms is the process of polishing a car, truck or SUV's paint to remove swirl marks and scratches from the clear coat. The swirls and or scratches aren't really removed the cleat coat is leveled or the edges of the scratch is rounded off so that it is no longer visible. So every time you do a paint correction there is some clear coat removed, which is why it is so important to only do it when needed and to protect your clear coat after. It is best to start out protecting your car, truck or SUV's paint when new with something like a sealant and wax combination or a ceramic coating or combination of multiple product types. We actually recommend a process of using multiple layers of different kinds of protection, we call the Sacrificial Layer Approach During the paint correction process we use several different machines, polishing pads, compounds and polishes to cut into the clear coat and level it out to visibly remove the swirls, scratches and defects. By doing this we are able to revel a brand new layer of the clear coat that is free from defects and oxidation or defects. At this point your paint will look simply amazing, but at this point your paint is at the most vulnerable point and to keep it looking and staying in this condition.
Paint enhancement is very similar to Paint Correction, the main difference is general speaking and more importantly at Cullman Auto Pros, Paint Enhancement is a 1 step process where a Paint Correction is a multi-step or much more involved process. This is usually a polish still applied with a machines using different pads to achieve a result that will remove at least 50% of the scratches, swirls and defects in your cars painted finishes. In most cases for most people this is the service they need over a full on paint Correction, it will provide you with a great glossy finish and depth and clarity to your paint.
We offer many services to protect your newly Enhanced or Corrected Paint on your vehicle. This is where our consultation is so important because it lets us take all the information about your vehicle and the life it lives and come up with a plan that is custom for your and your vehicle.
A 3 step process will start with an aggressive compound and pad, usually wool or microfiber, and then work it's way up through a fine cut polish and a medium cut polishing pad to a finishing or jeweling polish and pad. This process could involve multiple machine polishers including a dual action polisher of different sizes and a rotary. This can be a lot more than 3 actual steps from using multiple compounds or polishes with multiple pads to get the surface cleared from the swirls, oxidation and scratches. This process is really reserved for special situations, some of these include cars with black paint and a really soft clear coat, or a resent purchase of a vehicle that was well maintained mechanically but the paintwork was neglected and you want to bring it back and protect it, and for vintage and or classic cars and for a car, truck or SUV with sentimental value. Customers that opt in for this service should always protect their investment with a very high level of protection from some of our protection options with ceramic coatings, waxes ands sealants.
But this service is usually reserved for Garage Queens, Sunday Drivers and Cars people either really care about or have a sentimental attachment to. With this level of correction we would always recommend a ceramic coating to protect the work completed and the investment to the your car, truck or SUV's paint work.

A 2 step process using a machine polisher and can either start with a compound and wool or microfiber pad and work its way up to either a fine or a micro cut polish and either a medium, fine or jeweling pad. We have several options of compounds, polishes and pads from multiple suppliers so we can find the best combination for your car to get the best result possible. This process usually utilizes a dual action polisher to complete the process, we have them in 5, 3 and 1 inch sizes so we can fit into all the necessary areas.
After the paint is polished it needs to be protected with some level of protection from our selection of Ceramic Coatings, Sealants or Waxes to put a layer of protection between your now corrected paint and the elements, so that it can stay in its newly corrected condition. We always start with a test spot to see what the one step enhancement will accomplish, but the 2 step is usually needed on certain dark colors with softer clear coat that get damaged more easily than other cars, and this is required to get the finish back to where you want it. This level of service is a transformation to your car, truck or SUV's finish. This is another service where we would recommend while you are doing this to do some type of coating to protect your paint and the investment you just made into it,

We also offer a machine applied Sealant or Wax, This will provide more depth and gloss to the paint. This is a finishing step, where a Paint Enhancement or Paint Correction would be the more like the beginning and after the Paint Enhancement or Paint Correction some kind of protection is applied. This would be a Machine Applied Protection Layer, it is less involved and time consuming but can provide some excellent results for customers looking for a return of their shiny paint or more gloss and depth.
